Skill Builder: Rotary Cutting
The rotary cutter revolutionized quilt making and eliminated the need to cut squares and triangles one-byone.
Join Jean and learn to use your rotary cutter to its best advantage. Class will be hands-on as you practice cutting the strips, squares and triangles that make up most pieced patterns.

Skill Builder: Creative Grid Rulers
In this workshop, you will literally build your skills with 3 different Creative Grids strip rulers designed to
work with 2 1/2" strips (yes, those strips you get at Strippers' Club or in Bali Pops or other precut sets).
We will focus on the 45 degree half square triangle ruler, the 60 degree equilateral triangle ruler, and the
90 degree quarter square triangle ruler. Each participant will have a chance to cut fabric and sew pieces
together for all 3 rulers, and you'll leave with a handout with your examples attached. We will also talk
about other products available from Creative Grids. Participants are requested to bring 2 contrasting fat
quarters to class to make samples - all other notions & equipment will be provided.

Skill Builder: Relax the Back Basting
How many of you HATE basting? How many of you HATE basting because it makes your back hurt?? In
this workshop, you'll learn a way to baste your quilt while sitting at a single table, never reaching beyond
what is comfortable for you - no standing & bending over or trying to get to something you can't really
reach. This method results in a perfectly flat quilt with no bubbles or tucks on the quilt backing. We wil
cover both pin basting and needle/thread basting, discussing the pros & cons of both. We'll also talk
about planning your quilting and how to incorporate your plans into your basting to save time.
