Cholla Flowers
In the spring of 2009, the Cholla near our house were awash in flowers of many beautiful hues. I picked all the different ones I could find (with pliers!) and matched them to fabric. I then created a kaleidoscopic design using fused cottons and silks. You can do a quilt featuring your favorite flowers, whether roses from your garden, pictures from a catalog, or even your imagination. The best part – you don’t have to bring your sewing machine to class! Because the blocks are fused, you can use virtually any fabric you can think of, from quilting cottons to silk to old polyester shirts. We’ll focus on design and color to help you make a breathtaking original quilt.

The Christmas Collection
As quilters, our biggest common denominator is probably our love of fabric. Many of us end up with ‘collections’ of special fabrics in a box . . . . waiting . . . . well, wait no more! Grab a box and come showcase them in this simple setting. Let neutral window sills be the connecting factor for your fabric assortment. This could be the perfect excuse to finally do that ‘holiday’ quilt, or perhaps you would rather use some of the great specialty fabrics that are available to us these days. With only 15 blocks to make, this quilt even qualifies as a ‘quickie’. You will become a master of the mitered corner, get some tips about making really straight ‘skinny’ sashing strips, and learn some things about balance in design while you’re at it.
